Hi everyone! I haven't been able to check out the PH level I published months ago. Anyway, my latest PH test came out. My output now is at 8.05 PH. As you would find, that's still higher than most commercial water brands.

Well look what I got in the mail. Yeah, it's October since I don't check my Alibaba account very often. Well that goes to show you that you have to be careful with people you deal with. For those interested in putting up water stations, I suggest you talk to existing franchisees about dealership arrangements. Why? Well it's a lot cheaper than franchising and you get practically all the same things. Plus, you just have to deal with the franchisee and not an entire company.

On a side note, the letter I received is not entirely accurate. The sales manager is Kier Ediza, not Fokker Ediza (who is probably a brother). As far as I know, the Pag-Asa Branch is already closed since his customers have been calling me. But yeah, from my experience, I wouldn't exactly call him the most professional guy I've met. He also owes my branch some money. As for the other stuff, I don't have first hand info so I can't comment on those. And the bottom line is, just use keen character judgment before going into business.

I also had a repeat customer telling me how doctors prescribe alkaline ionized water for dengue. There is an outbreak in QC after all. It's probably related to re-hydration but I'll check it out. I haven't done my research on the relationship of alkaline and dengue yet.

Kangen Water, Pi Water and Alkaline Ionized Water

In the past couple of days, I've received inquiries and orders from ex customers of both Kangen Water and Pi Water in Metro Manila. They're in the same niche since they're also offering basically alkaline water. According to my customer, their Kangen supplier said their water's PH level is just 7.5 and it costs P100+ per 5 gallons. AND it requires a week's notice before they deliver. Imagine that! As for the Pi water, I called up a branch I saw in Quezon City. Their PH was about 8.0. And that's expensive too! I've talked to customers and potential customers and at least twice, I've heard that doctors made them switch from Pi to Alkaline Ionized Water. Go figure. If you recall, the water from my branch was measured at 8.85 PH. And the lesson is what? Go for the more affordable and yet more product superior supplier. Ahem. And I'm nice too. ;-) Call me!

BDO Race for Life and Alkaline Water

Earlier on, I went to the BDO Race for Life in SM Mall of Asia (MoA) in Pasay. No, I didn't attend as a participant, although I was wearing sporting gear. Sometimes, it's okay just to look the part. I was there as the official alkaline water boy (AWB) or thirst quenching specialist (TQS) if you want to make it sound more glamorous. So there I was armed with 45 5-gallon containers at 4 AM to make sure that the 1,500 runners will not go thirsty.

At around 5:30-6:00 the race began near the IMAX area in MoA. The race was orchestrated by Alma (see our picture) who was also wonderful to work with. She was very much in control of the event as I observed it, but I digress. Less than 15 minutes after the race started, we started seeing the forerunners near the Globe area. The BDO water boys (see I wasn't the only water boy) scrambled to fill up the cups. But then, as expected according to the Bell curve, the mean runners swamped the water table and water was free flowing like an open bar.

But just as quickly as it started, the racers finished. So I went back to the IMAX area where the winners were soon announced. Actually I stayed near the water table where everyone converged for drinks and pictures. And so it ended. Another day, another great event. Thanks again, Alma! Until our next thirst quenching event (TQE).

The Amazing Kidney Race & Aquahealth

Last Sunday, I went to The Amazing Kidney Race in UP Diliman. No, I didn't run. I would have joined though if there was a 0.25 K walking event. Aquahealth Alkaline Ionized Water provided the drinking water for the event. There were four different stations set up for the runners so that wherever thirst finds them, our water will be there (has the makings of a tag line).

We provided the race with 40 slim containers (5 gallons per container) and we were there at 4 AM. Although I hear races are usually provided with water bottles, organizer Coach Edward (as people call him) said that it's a lot easier from a trash management standpoint just to provide plastic cups since the trash area will be smaller. If you carry plastic bottles around, you tend not to throw these right away (and could be thrown at farther distances).

It was a very well attended event and I give my kudos to organizer Edward Co, who is also very refreshingly professional. I'll work with that guy anytime (and I don't say that about a lot of people).

How Alkaline Ionized Water Helps Cure Gouty Arthritis

When a person has gouty arthritis, it means that the uric acid level in his body is high. For example, the normal range for uric acid is 3.4 - 7 mg/dl. My personal results show 8.26 as of late 2009. If maintained, it will lead to uric acid crystal formation, which in turn causes the extremely painful gout attacks. How does alkaline water come in to the picture?

In controlling gout, you can either minimize uric acid production (eating low purine food) or maximize uric acid excretion (doing both works best of course). Alkaline water helps with the latter. Now, uric acid is generally expelled primarily through the urine and secondarily through sweat. That's why hydration is very important and why you would see in many articles that gout sufferers should drink lots of fluids. The more water in the body, the more uric acid can be expelled.

So where does alkalinity come in? One important thing to note is that uric acid, while best expelled through urine, is NOT very water soluble. If you read my article, "Potassium to Cure Gout", you'll see that potassium helps make uric acid more water soluble, and therefore easier to release through urine. Potassium happens to be one of the minerals that makes water alkaline, so the logic follows. Generally, the higher the alkalinity, the better. For example, my water station's output has an 8.85 PH level, which is fairly high for commercial alkaline water and should therefore be better for gout than water with lower PH. Distilled or purified water in particular, are acidic, and would lessen the hydration impact.

But think in general terms too. An acidity problem should logically be resolved by adding alkalinity to the body. It's not that quite simple in the body, but it is a general concept that makes sense. To recap, drinking lots of water is good for gout; drinking lots of ALKALINE water is even better.

When talking about drinking water, I've seen two basic niches: one that cares about price, and one that cares about health benefits & cleanliness. I already know that there will be people who will be fine for as long as you call the water purified and will always go after the cheaper one.

For the health conscious ones, they tend to gravitate towards alkaline water. Location and price become secondary. When it comes to alkaline water, the primary concern is always alkalinity. How high? How long will it be high? If it's been 15 years since your chemistry class, you might have forgotten how to read PH. 7 is neutral; anything lower is acidic, anything higher is alkaline (well basic). Each whole number change in PH level means a 10x difference. For example, something with a PH of 9 is 10 times more alkaline than something with a PH of 8.

In a real world example, I checked out Sierra Madre Alkaline Water, which is available in most supermarkets I would think. The back label says 7.8 PH. I tried to zoom in but my camera phone just couldn't capture it right. So feel free to check it yourself. In contrast, Alkaline water from my Project 6 shop has an 8.85 PH. So there you have it. Which is better? You decide.

What is the Highest Alkaline Water PH that is Safe to Drink

I first tried to answer that question here. I still see it in my logs that some visitors are looking for this information. I'll try to answer it in a couple of ways. The Alkaline Water settings for Ionizers usually range from 8-10 PH. From there, we can infer that 10 should be safe. I also read some materials that say that 9.5 PH is okay.

FYI, Aquahealth Project 6 has an 8.85 PH level. Pretty high and will cost you very little (compared to a Kangen machine).

How Alkaline Water Helps You Lose Weight

Have you had some difficulties losing that extra weight? Have you already toned down the carbs and lessened the meat and sweets. And yet there's still some extra fat you can't seem to get rid of. Alkaline water might be the missing piece of your seemingly healthy diet.

Our diets these days are very acidic. We eat lots of meat, junk foods, alcohol and soda. These all contribute to making our blood acidic. But do you know that your water itself might be acidic? Are you getting your drinking water from a water station that sells distilled-purified water? That's very common. But did you know that in the filtration process, natural minerals are being filtered out as well? The lack of minerals makes the water acidic.

So what? Well, our blood has a normal PH level of 7.35 to 7.45, which makes it alkaline. When the blood becomes acidic because of our diet, it hurts our body because oxidation becomes more rapid. Said in automotive terms, the higher acidity makes the car body rust faster. Now imagine that very same process happening in your body.

Here's where it gets interesting. The body always attempts to protect itself. Since the root cause of the problem is acidity, the body tries to neutralize it by putting in alkaline minerals into the blood stream. However, the effect is that your organs will lose minerals. Your bones will lose calcium. Hence more sicknesses. But usually, that's not enough. Apart from releasing minerals, the body will also envelope the acid in fat to prevent further damage to the organs.

And that's key to why you might not be losing weight or fat even though you eat in moderation. For as long as your blood is acidic, your body needs the extra fat to protect against the acidity.

So how does alkaline water help? It makes your blood more alkaline of course. But there are usually questions about how that happens. Well various parts of the body have different normal PH levels. For example, while the blood is normally alkaline, stomach acids are highly acidic (1-3 PH). Now, when you drink alkaline water, it makes your stomach acid slighly less acidic. Similar to the blood example earlier, the stomach will attempt to bring back it's normal PH by secreting acid. However, in the process of doing that, it produces an alkaline by product which is released into the blood.

What just happened? Drinking alkaline water had a net effect of increasing blood PH. Now once your blood PH reaches its normal alkaline state, your body will no longer need the fat cells to protect itself from the acid. The fat will thus be dispersed.

What this all means to you, the dieter, is that if the only thing you changed was the type of water you drink (not even the amount), it should help you already with your fat loss initiative. Alakaline water could just be the key ingredient missing in your weight loss program. Eat right. Exercise right. Drink right.

What's the Highest PH that You Can Drink?

One of my website surfers was looking for that. Well, I can't really find the definitive answer, but here's an alternative way. As you know, my store's Alkaline Ionized water has an 8.85 PH level which I hear is "up there" in terms of commercial water PH. Nonetheless, ionizers which you can get for thousands of dollars have PH settings, mostly from 8-10. I can only infer that 10 is still safe to drink for that (but your own research please). The comments I read is that above 10, the taste becomes a bit bitter.

On a related note, quite consistently, I read that Alkaline water is smoother on the throat. Try it! If you're in the Quezon City, Philippines area, visit my water station and give my alkaline water a try.

A single serving of cola is 8 ounces. A typical can is more than that. Most people can easily drink double that and in the trendy super-size-me culture, gallons of carbonated drinks are sold. Thirty-two to 48 ounces can be easily downed in one sitting. The label on a can states that an 8 ounce serving is 150 calories. This is 150 calories if sugar with absolutely zero nutrition. Supersize it and you can easily guzzle 900 calories in a 48 ounce super-size.

If you drink one of those every day, the sugar damage in your body can add up very quickly, along with the extra pounds. By making one small change in your daily fluid consumption, you can do your body a bit favor. If you simply add alkaline, ionized water to your diet and stop drinking sugary beverages, you can save yourself up to 900 calories of carbonic acid laden with sugar in the form of soda pop.

Water is a ubiquitous chemical substance that is composed of hydrogen and oxygen and is essential for all known forms of life.

In individuals of normal weight, water is abundant in most parts of the body, except in fat. The largest component of the body is water. Water makes up between 45 and 75% of body weight, with the variability due primarily to differences in body fat. Carrying too much body fat, you can easily become dehydrated because body fat does not hold water. While most tissues including muscle, skin, and visceral organs are over 70% water, fat contains less than 10% water. The percentage of body weight that is water therefore varies inversely with body fat. In the average lean adult male around 60% of the body weight is water. The remaining body weight consists of 16-18% fat with 22-24% protein, carbohydrate and other solids. In the female the percentage of body weight that is water is lower due to a relatively greater amount of subcutaneous fat.

Water and Your Body

The human body is anywhere from 45% to 75% water. To function properly the body requires between one and seven liters of water each day to avoid dehydration, the precise amount depends on your level of activity, temperature, humidity and other factors. We can get a substantial amount of the water we need from food, or beverages, other than drinking straight water, but most experts agree that we need at least 6-7 8oz glasses of water per day. Drinking coffee, tea and soda can dehydrate you because they are diuretics.

If the importance of a nutrient is judged by how long we can do without it, water ranks as the most important. A person can survive only seven to ten days without water, whereas it takes weeks or even months to die from a lack of food. Water circulates through our blood and lymphatic system, transporting oxygen and nutrients to cells and removing wastes through urine and sweat. Water also maintains the natural balance between dissolved salts and water inside and outside of cells. Our joints and soft tissues depend on the cushioning that water provides for them. While water has no caloric value and therefore is not an energy source, without it in our diets we could not digest or absorb the foods we eat or eliminate the body's digestive waste.

Hydrogen and Oxygen

Oxygen is essential to survival. It is relatively stable in the air, but when it gets into our bodies, it can become unstable and has a tendency to attach itself to to any biological molecule, including those of healthy cells. The chemical activity of these "free radicals" is due to one or more pairs of unpaired electrons.

Such free radicals have a high oxidation potential which means they are capable of stealing electrons from other cells. Inside the body these free radicals are very useful in disinfection because they attack bacteria, viruses and other waste products. Problems arise when the free radicals are turned loose in the body and they attack healthy cells. That is when you need antioxidants to control the free radicals.

The H- ion as an antioxidant

Life is a rather delicate balance of oxidative processes and reducing (antioxidant) processes, and almost all scientists and observers agree that most of the time, the balance in most organisms (including humans) is shifted too far in the oxidative direction in our modern era. This excess oxidative activity results in a surplus of oxygen free radicals (aka reactive oxygen species, or ROS), some of the most common of which are superoxides, peroxides, ozone, and triplet and quadruple oxygens. As a powerful reducing agent (an electron donor), H- is able to neutralize these radicals easily, often leaving only pure water or simple compounds as the "ash" or residue from the encounter. It acts as a scavenger in the bloodstream, hunting down the free radicals and capturing them.

The H-minus ion (or H- ion) also plays a critical role in all known life forms on earth. It acts as both an energy carrier (providing "energy currency") and as an antioxidant in numerous biological systems. In its antioxidant role, this ion functions as a powerful primal, and primary antioxidant found in all raw, unprocessed foods (plant and animal) and in many "wild" unprocessed, untreated water sources in the biosphere (the area around the surface of the planet where life exists.) Some sources of water which contain the H-minus ion are glacial runoff water, high altitude lakes, wells and springs and some deep wells where the aquifer has been stable over millennia.

It appears that this tiny and lightweight ion was the original antioxidant for all life forms on earth, and is likely the single most optimal antioxidant for life forms even today. It is the only antioxidant that appears in forms other than vegetable or animal. H- is formed easily in water, ice or moisture laden air (water vapor) via exposure to ionizing radiation, an electrical discharge (plasma or spark), or an electrical current in water strong enough to produce electrolysis.

The H- ion has sometimes been labeled the "Paleolithic Antioxidant", the "Neanderthal Antioxidant", and the "primeval Antioxidant". This article describes primarily the antioxidant properties of the primal antioxidant (aka the primeval antioxidant), the negative hydrogen ion (H- ion) -- found in ionized (reduced) alkaline water (also called Electrolyzed Reduced Water or ERW).

Free Radicals and Heart Disease

Free radicals are among the most damaging molecules in the body and are highly unstable molecules that are oxidizing agents and are electron deficient. Remember how iron rusts? That is unchecked oxidation. They are a principal cause of damage and disease in the body. Oxygen free radicals contribute significantly to a broad variety of harmful conditions in the body ranging from life-threatening conditions such as heart disease, stroke and cancer, to less severe conditions such as sunburns, arthritis, cataracts, and many others. Free radicals MUST get electrons from somewhere and will steal them from whatever molecules are around, including normal, healthy tissues.

Damage to tissues results when free radicals strip these electrons from healthy cells. If the damage goes on unchecked, this will lead to disease. For example, the oxidation of LDL cholesterol particles in arterial walls by free radicals triggers an immune system response that results in atherosclerosis, the principal cause of heart disease. The H-ions in alkaline water from an electrolysis machine are a rich source of electrons that can be donated to these free radicals in the body, neutralizing them and stopping them from damaging healthy tissues. Specifically, these H-ions have the potential to engage in the chemical reactions necessary to neutralize oxygen free radicals.

Well some of my customers have been saying that it's hard to call the shop, claiming that the phone is always busy. But it's not! Apparently, PLDT phones have difficulties contacting BAYANTEL. I smell a conspiracy.

So I folded since my customers are more important. I applied for a PLDT wireless service earlier. The queues take soooo long. And what happened? They couldn't give me a number yet because all the numbers had '666' in them. How often do you hear that? It made me scratch my head that the biggest telecom company in the country can't manually override numbers that they issue. Even better, they should've programmed '666' out of the numbers pool. C'mon, how many PLDT customers will say yes to numbers like that.

Sigh. I hope tomorrow is a better day. Stop fighting PLDT and Bayantel and let my customers through.

If you have a water cooler/dispenser, you'll want to clean it regularly. Here's how to do it right.

Clean your water cooler every 6 weeks, or with every bottle change.
Prepare a bleach solution by adding 1 tablespoon of bleach to every 1 gallon of water that you use.
Unplug the water cooler from the wall and take off the empty bottle.
Use a sponge to clean the inner surface of the water cooler with the bleach solution. Let it stand for no more than 5 minutes, then drain the bleach solution through the tap and into a bucket.
Drain bucket down kitchen sink, toilet, or urinal.
Rinse out the bleach solution by filling the inner reservoir with water four times and washing it out through the tap and into a bucket.
Lift off the drip tray and wash well in the bleach solution. Then rinse in tap water and replace onto the cooler.
Wash your hands with soap and warm water, then wipe the top and neck of the new bottle.
Remove the cap from the new bottle.
Put the new bottle on the water dispenser.

I discussed the value of drinking water in natural gout treatment in earlier articles. Of course all types of water are not equal, for example hard water is better than soft because of its additional mineral content and distilled water is acidic. Probably the best of all waters for natural gout treatment is alkaline water, also called ionized water.

The reason is that alkaline water has a higher pH value than other kinds. Alkaline water is water with more oxygen, in this case OH-, not O2. Drinking it makes the body more alkaline. In this state, the body is likely to excrete more uric acid. Reducing uric acid levels to below 6.0 mg/dL (men), slightly less in women, is the target of most forms of gout treatment whether drug medications or natural remedies. Alkaline water is also an antioxidant which squelches free radicals.

MAKING ALKALINE WATER

Most people are not able to buy alkaline water at their local supermarket or grocery store. You have to make it yourself. It's not difficult. Basically you can either add alkaline drops to regular water or you can have a water ionizer do it for you. Ionized Alkaline Water - How It Combats Free Radical Damage!

What do you know about ionized alkaline water?

Here's what I know...

When a molecule loses an electron it is called a Free Radical.

Oxygen is about the 4th most reactive of all of the elements. That's why iron rusts and apples go brown so readily.

The most violent of the free radicals in our bodies are created from Oxygen molecules.

Here's what happens:

All elements except Hydrogen and Helium want to have 8 electrons in their outer levels. Only the inert elements like Neon and Argon have 8 naturally. Oxygen has 6 and is always looking to find another 2 electrons to make it complete. Without the 8 electrons it is highly reactive.

Hydrogen has one electron in its outer level so two hydrogens combine with one oxygen to make water. Oxygen borrows the two electrons from the hydrogen to make itself complete.

In the atmosphere oxygen exists as a molecule that contains two atoms - the formula is O2. A good model is to think of O2 as two atoms side by side, each having four electrons on the outer edges and sharing 2 electrons from each atom in the middle, so each atom feels it has eight - four on the outside and four in the middle..

When a molecule loses an electron it is called a Free Radical.

In the metabolism of food or just in breathing, especially when doing cardio, the Oxygen molecule loses an electron during the reaction so it no longer feels complete and is continually looking for another electron to steal. It happens with other molecules like nitrogen too but oxygen is involved in most of the metabolism reactions and is by far the most aggressive. Because Oxygen is so reactive, when it steals the electron from a tissue or a molecule inside the cell walls it causes damage. At the cellular lever an Oxygen free radical is so aggressive it actually burns holes in the cell walls and causes eventual mutations of the DNA as it steals electrons from there. This is how cancer is born.

An "Anti-oxidant" is something that neutralizes the aggressive nature of the free radical by supplying it with the electrons it needs or with a negative ion to fill the gap. Vitamin C and Vitamin E etc do this but highly Ionized Alkaline Kangen water has a huge supply of free electrons and negatively charges "OH" ions just looking for something like a Free Radical to neutralize themselves.

Supply enough free electrons and the horde of Oxygen free radicals calm down for awhile.

The number of free positive or negative charges in a fluid are measured by ORP - Oxidation/Reduction Potential. Reduction is simply the opposite of the Oxidation process. A positive reading - meaning lots of free positive charges is bad. A negative reading - meaning lots of free negative charges or electrons is good.

Ionized Alkaline Kangen water has 8 times as much ORP as Vitamin C and is the best Anti-oxidant we have heard of.

This is why the ORP is even more critical than the alkalinity.

Water is not really H2O - it is H and OH. When we split the water into the acid and alkaline streams using ionization we actually drag the H-OH molecule apart. We send an excess of Hydrogen ions (positive charges) down the acid pipe and an equal excess of OH ions (negative charges) down the alkaline pipe. We supply both Alkalinity and an excess of Free Electrons from the alkaline pipe that are not matched by an equal number of positive charges.

Most alkaline solutions have an equal number of positive and negative charges making them electrically neutral but Ionized Alkaline Kangen water is in effect electrically negatively charged. This is why ionization of water works so well.

In 1931 Dr. Otto Warburg, a German cancer researcher field of study was cell biology, won a Nobel Prize for his research on cancer. In his research he stated that:

"cancer cannot live in a pH of 7.0. Another way of making the same statement is, you can't get cancer if you keep your pH at 7.0 or slightly above. Maintaining a proper pH without balance nutrition is not a guarantee of perfect health, it just means you won't get cancer! You need good nutrition to produce a healthy body."

Cancer loves an acidic environment which is a pH level below 7 that is where sickness thrives. The pH scales measurement start at 0 to 14 with 7 being neutral. Most of the urine of terminally ill cancer patients are between 4.0 and 5.5 which is extremely acidic. This means cancer patients are not receiving the proper oxygen at the cellular level to survive and flourish..

Herman Aihara, stated in his book entitled "Acid & Alkaline" that "...especially the blood, becomes acidic, our physical condition will first manifest tiredness, proneness to catching colds, etc. When these fluids become more acidic, our condition then manifest pains and suffering, such as headaches, chest pains, stomach aches, etc...instead of dying - as normal cell do in an acid environment - some cell survive by becoming abnormal cells...these abnormal cells are called malignant cells. Therefore, malignant cells grow indefinitely and without order. This is cancer."

Needless to say, we in the United States are just gaining access to this information. It is paramount that we empower ourselves and discover how drinking Kangen water affect cancer and why should we alkalinize our bodies. The truth is... I don't know for sure! And even if I did know, I couldn't state that here without spending millions of dollars on exhaustive clinical trials.

But here's what I do know!

Are you hydrated or dehydrated? Your body needs clean, pure filtered water each day. The formula to figure out how much you need each day is very simple. Weight yourself, then take the number of pounds that you weight and divide it in half. Then convert that number into ounces.

If you weight 140 pounds, you will need approximately 70 ounces of water EACH DAY. This does not mean that you increase the amount of pop or coffee that you already consuming. However, all the healthy fresh fruits and vegetables you eat everyday do count toward your total liquid requirement. On the other hand, if you are eating all the home-made bread, pasta, cinnamon rolls, and other foods classified as junk food you will have to increase your hydration intake. Some of my friends start the day by setting out the amount of water that they need to consume each day. This is a constant reminder, which helps them reach their daily goal.

Here is the schedule for healthy hydration that I use: Start your day with eight to sixteen ounces as soon as you get up. This wakes up your system and gets everything moving before your leave for the day. Continue the day with the fluids such as coffee or juice that you normally drink for breakfast. A couple hours after breakfast drink another eight to sixteen ounces. Continue this plan of hydration two hours before a meal, and more two hours after a meal for the rest of the day. If you are trying to lose weight, increase the ounces before meals to help fill you up.

You decide how many glasses of water you drink before and after meals. Start with a gradual daily increase until you reach your requirement. Remember the goal is to get the correct amount of hydration that your body needs each day, not too little, or too much.

Bottled Alkaline Water Versus Plain Bottled Water!

Recently on our way home from a Washington State University graduation I ask the stewardess for a drink of water. Yuck! It was the worse tasting stuff that I have tasted in a long time. It was free, but it wasn't worth drinking. I had plenty of time to think on that four hour flight. Why would anyone serve something so nasty tasting? Greed was the only conclusion that I could reach. I think it is very possible that the airlines are refilling plastic water bottles straight from the tap before take-off.

Since all bottled waters are considered "food" they are regulated by the FDA. The FDA only requires bottled water to be at least as safe as tap water. I don't drink anything that comes straight out of my tap, even though I know it is regulated by the EPA. They require cities to test daily for bacteria. Then if something is found, the city has to make a public announcement immediately. Bottled Beverage Companies do not have such requirements; they only have to test their facilities once a year. The FDA actually allows fecal bacteria, arsenic, disinfectant byproducts, and even lead to be in bottled water! Yes, lead! They allow up to five parts per billion of lead! This is more than one third of what is allowed in your tap water.

Do you know if you're drinking bottled water from a company that is concerned about your health? Or, is what you're drinking coming from a company that is only concerned about what they can get away with? After all, taking what is in the tap, putting it into plastic bottles, marking it up 10,000%, and having little or no safety requirements is a very large cash cow! Wonder if the Eskimos follow that example and sell snowballs to each other? Why is America willing to pay so much for something that they themselves could get from their own tap for a few pennies? The answer to that question is the marketing of fear! Fear is being marketed all over America, and not just in the food or health industries. Today the Bottling Companies producing water are 30% larger than the pharmaceutical industry!

Initially, the bottling companies were selling mostly spring water. However, today the major vendors are bottling straight from the tap. They do filter, then add minerals or remove them, and then neatly package those bottles for us. They falsely print labels that state extraordinary treatment of their products. They think, that justifies the high cost of their products.

There are approximately three thousand types of bottled water world wide. Once you do find one that is free of contaminates, store it properly! Always keep it away from cleaning compounds, chemicals, and gas. Don't store it outside, in a shed or in direct sunlight. If possible store it in a cool dark closet in your basement. If you are unable to find water in glass bottles, then you need to be aware of the expiration date on plastic. Reusing your empty plastic bottles may save room in the landfill, but it's not good for your body. Dangerous levels of bacteria can build up in the bottle as you reuse it.

Companies that produce Alkaline water, take the time and effort to see that their product is pure. Pure is what we are after! It is very common for water to go through an eight hour cleaning process before it is made Alkaline. You will be amazed at the taste and purity of Alkaline water. Once you start drinking it, your health should improve because your pH level will rise. Also, you will notice when someone hands you a drink of tap water and tries to pass it off as something else.

What is the main characteristic of Alkaline Water that makes it good for your health? The answer is a negative ORP or Oxidation Reduction Potential. So what is ORP? And how can it help you?

When we see a piece of iron rusting, or a slice of apple turning brown, we are looking at examples of relatively slow oxidation. When we look at a fire, we are witnessing an example of rapid oxidation. We now know that oxidation involves an exchange of electrons between two atoms. The atom that loses an electron in the process is said to be "oxidized." The one that gains an electron is said to be "reduced." In picking up that extra electron, it loses the electrical energy that makes it "hungry" for more electrons. Thus we get the term Oxidation (losing an electron) Reduction (gaining and electron) Potential.

The potential of a given substance to take or leave electrons is very important. If you consistently drink water with a high positive ORP or Oxidation Reduction Potential, the water will have a tendency to steal electrons from the other atoms in your body, oxidizing your other atoms. Remember the examples above of iron rusting and an apple turning brown. Basically that is what water with a high ORP will do to you. Examples of drinks with a high positive ORP are coffee, soda, bottled water, Gatorade and Powerade, and almost every drink sold at stores. Even tap water has a high ORP even though it is required by law to have a neutral pH level.

If you consistently drink water with a high negative ORP or Oxidation Reduction Potential, the water will have a tendency to leave electrons with atoms in your body that are need of them. The water will basically reduce the atoms that are missing electrons so that those atoms and molecules do not oxidize your body. Again, remember that oxidation causes decay. You do not want that. The only water that I am aware of that has a high negative ORP is alkaline water, usually produced by a special water ionizer. Alkaline Water can virtually reverse the negative effects of all of the oxidizing drinks and foods that we eat daily.

You may have also heard of the term anti-oxidant. Simply stated an anti-oxidant is a substance that as a high negative ORP or Oxidation Reduction Potential. You have cancer!

Even though I was expecting it, that was still the most dreadful moment of my life. The surgeon went on to tell me that "these days it isn't necessarily terminal". My ears heard him... but I didn't take it in. I was simply too overwhelmed with what seemed the enormity of the situation. Regardless of what he said, I knew that my death was imminent.

But perhaps I have been good in another life... it was prostate cancer and I was lucky... we caught it in time! I had the surgery and seven years later there is no sign of its return. But the worry is still there in the back of my mind. My father died from prostate cancer complications so that creates a higher genetic risk for me. I am very much aware that I must do everything I can to protect my body from a return visit in some other organ.

I didn't know much about cancer seven years ago, I don't know much about it now; but these days I'm hyper-vigilant... I'm always open to exploring alternative ideas and therapies.

I began a program of high quality anti-oxidant food supplements as a first defense. He firmly believed that there was a direct relationship between pH and oxygen. Higher pH (i.e. higher alkalinity) means higher concentration of oxygen molecules while lower pH (more acidity) means lower concentrations of oxygen.

In 1931 Dr. Otto Weinberg was awarded the Nobel Prize for his discovery of the nature and mode of action of the respiratory enzyme. He showed, among other things, that cancerous cells can live and develop, even in the absence of oxygen.

In a published lecture he stated: "Cancer, above all other diseases, has countless secondary causes. Almost anything can cause cancer. But, even for cancer, there is only one prime cause. The prime cause of cancer is the replacement of the respiration of oxygen ... in normal body cells by fermentation of sugar".

My wife and I both suffer with acid reflux although her condition is much worse than mine and has gone on for more than 20 years.

Recently we were introduced to alkaline water. Alkaline water has natural healing properties and has been able to remove the symptoms for both of us... and it worked virtually immediately.

Here is my wife's story:

My wife, Saundra, has suffered from serious and ever worsening "Acid Reflux" or "GERD" for over 20 years and has been on stronger and stronger medication as the years have passed. She would usually start each evening before bed by sitting up for at least an hour to allow the acid created by drinking water with her pills to settle.

What happened?

Of course all types of water are not equal, for example hard water is better than soft because of its additional mineral content and distilled water is acidic. Probably the best of all waters for natural gout treatment is alkaline water, also called ionized water.

The reason is that alkaline water has a higher pH value than other kinds. Alkaline water is water with more oxygen, in this case OH-, not O2. Drinking it makes the body more alkaline. In this state, the body is likely to excrete more uric acid. Reducing uric acid levels to below 6.0 mg/dL (men), slightly less in women, is the target of most forms of gout treatment whether drug medications or natural remedies. Alkaline water is also an antioxidant which squelches free radicals.

MAKING ALKALINE WATER

Most people are not able to buy alkaline water at their local supermarket or grocery store. You have to make it yourself. It's not difficult. Alkaline water promises body benefits

Our bodies are 70 percent water; that's why drinking H2O is so important.

But there are some who say it's not just the water, but the type of water that's so important.

Users say alkaline water is changing their bodies from the inside out; but does it really work?

Pat Darby is just back from chemotherapy. She's in Round 3 in her fight against the cancer diagnosed about four years ago.

Darby's first task when she gets home: getting a glass of water. But this isn't just any water; it's alkaline water, designed to neutralize acids in your body.

"I feel like I should feel like crap, but I don't," she said. "Actually, I feel like I'm about 20 years younger."

With more energy, she says the side effects of cancer are easier to control.

"Everything about me is just alive," Darby said.

Dr. Laura Precourt says it all comes down to your pH level, which reflects the amount of acid in your body.

"It allows the body to heal itself from the inside out," she said.

As we drink sodas and eat junk food, Dr. Precourt sais acidity builds up; some reasearchers believe disease is caused by too much acid in the body.

Alkaline water is supposed to neutralize that.

"A lot of these bottled waters we drink, we think we're drinking healthy water, but some of it is really acidic," Dr. Precourt said.

The difference can be observed by using a dye that tests pH levels.

Red indicates the most acidic beverages, like carbonated soft drinks. Alkaline water is purple, at the other end of the spectrum.

"When you first start drinking the water, you have to go through a detoxification," Dr. Precourt explained. "You're finally getting rid of the toxins."

The concept can be illustrated using tomatoes rinsed in separate bowls — one containing tap water, the other alkaline water.

The alkaline water pulls out a yellowish debris that tap water doesn't get.

Dr. Precourt says the body goes through a similar process, and getting rid of debis makes you healthier. "I have seen cirrhosis go away, excema go away, skin clearing up, constipation be relieved," she said.

After one week of drinking alkaline water, one patient said his diabetes numbers were back in check. A woman said she lost five pounds in the first week and that her swelling and migraines are gone.

While alkaline water has been used in Japenese hospitals for more than 30 years, many experts call it a gimmick.

A study printed in the Journal of the American Medical Association failed to find scientific proof that alkaline water works..Some doctors -- call it "nonsense," saying your body needs no help adjusting its pH level unless you have kidney issues.

But tell that to Pat Darby, whose seen a 180 degree shift in how she looks and feels.

The benefits convinced her to buy a $2,000 alkaline filter that ionizes the water at home. It should last 15 years.

"It's an ionization process," Dr. Precourt explained, showing how the water flows past titanium-platinum plates. She said the water gives people like Darby a second chance to live life at its fullest.

"It is nature's most wonderful liquid there is, so why not?" Darby asked.

Trillions For Disease, Not A Penny For Health

Modern medicine has one purpose—to make money for the pharmaceuticals and their army of “trained practitioners.”
If anybody in America wants serious health attention, they have to take responsibility, pursue alternatives and pay for it out of their own pocket.
I will quickly give you a valid exception and that is if one needs trauma care. It is generally and quickly available and most of the time life-saving. But this is a very small part of medical practice in America.
In fact, there is now very high risk in going to the hospital. Besides the hundreds of thousands of drug-induced deaths (iatrogenic deaths), there are people who check into hospitals and unexpectedly die of viral pneumonia that antibiotics can’t help. Tuberculosis has returned to America along with drug-resistant strains. Even what appears to be the old common cold is lasting for months.
Doesn’t all this make us worry that a killer flu such as that which wiped out 20 million people in 1919 could return?
Old, old infections are laughing at our modern multi-trillion dollar medical empire.
The first premise of modern medicine is to avoid simplicity and cheap health solutions. Boy, have they ever done this. They have succeeded in leading the sick public to feel helpless and hopeless in taking responsibility for their own health. They have successfully destroyed what used to be just common sense. Old home remedies passed down for generations and old country doctors’ simple therapies have all been erased for life-threatening trips to the hospital and thousands of drugs.
We are the victims. It’s our bodies they “practice” on. We are literally a prescription drug culture.
What to do?

Dr. George W. Crile, a great surgeon said, “There is no natural death. All deaths from so-called natural causes are merely the endpoint of a progressive acid saturation.”
What do we do? Balance acid/alkaline pH slightly in favor of alkalinity. Is this simple? Yes, it is! Will doctors tell you this? No, because it’s too simple and most of them don’t know about it.
Any form of illness indicates a disturbed state of body chemistry—generally an acid state. In fact, over acidity is common to all degenerative diseases. As stated above, death is 100 percent acidity!
Viruses love acid! They feast on acid. Sickness is defeated and health is restored by rebuilding alkaline reserve, not with sugar-laced fruit juices or soft drinks but with fresh, raw vegetables, carrot juice and alkaline water.
Sugar and sugar products and artificial sweeteners (except Stevia) are highly acid and negative to health. In fact, most commercial foods are acid or acid forming. No wonder we are sick!
The more imbalanced we become, mentally, emotionally and physically, the more susceptible we are to viral infections.
Viruses, fungus or bacteria in the body can only survive in an acid environment. Any kind of infection at all will thrive in an acid body.
Dr. Max Gerson saved many “terminal” cancer patients primarily with fresh raw carrot juice. What did he know? He knew to quickly realkalize their bodies in order to restore their health. He knew that carrot juice would correct their terminal acid condition. Carrot juice is established as a rapid alkalizer and any amount can be consumed. Dr. Max Gerson used eight glasses a day of freshly prepared carrot juice for each cancer patient.
Carrot juice for children has the greatest value because it supplies vitamin A so necessary for growth and vitality. It is as excellent a source of calcium as milk. A lot of carrot vitamin A is wonderful for preventing infections.
Now to The Chemistry of Alkalinity:
When we alkalize our bodies, we at the same time oxygenate and detoxify. This is saying that oxygenation and detoxification is caused by and follows alkalization.
Now you can see that alkalization with alkaline water and alkaline foods causes oxygenation and detoxification of the body leading to the suppression of disease and the restoration of health. Bacteria, virus, cancer and fungus cannot live in an alkaline and oxygenated environment.
The process of aging and disease is the accumulation of waste within our body. These wastes are acid. The constant consumption of alkaline water flushes out acidic waste. Mr. Sang Whang in his book called this “reverse aging.” Is this not simple?
So now we have added toxic waste removal to realkalization along with oxygenation and detoxification. This is a very powerful healing concept coupled with reverse aging.
Most young people are alkaline or should be. Aging always comes with increasing acidosis and acid coagulates blood. Then do we need blood thinner? No, we need to alkalize our body. More acid waste accumulation as we age means less oxygen. Therefore realkalizing means an increase of oxygen. Heart disease is a problem of oxygen shortage. Heart patients need to alkalize with alkaline foods and alkaline water. More oxygen means a healthier heart.
No disease can be cured without the removal of acid waste from our bodies. No one can reverse aging without the removal of acid waste and maintaining a pH balance slightly alkaline. We do this with alkaline foods and alkaline water.
All drugs accumulate as acid waste in the body. Any serious treatment for anything involves the removal of acid waste.
The Growth of Cancer Cells:
A German biochemist, Dr. Otto Warburg discovered the cause of cancer in 1923 and he received the 1931 Nobel Prize for doing so. In his book, The Metabolism of Tumors, Dr. Warburg demonstrated that the primary cause of cancer is the replacement of oxygen in the respiratory chemistry of normal cells by the fermentation of sugar. The growth of cancer cells is a fermentation process which is initiated only in the relative absence of oxygen. Of course, realkalizing restores the oxygen and stops the fermentation process and the cancer. What could be simpler and cheaper?
When we drink alkaline water, we are drinking water with excess oxygen, not in the form of O2, but in the form of OH which is very stable because it is mated with positively ionized alkaline minerals. The alkaline mineral is used to detoxify poisonous acid compounds.
The cause of all cancer is a lack of oxygen caused by the accumulation of waste. So even if cancer surgery is a success, tumors will reoccur because the acid environment has not been changed. Since healthy cells are alkaline and malignant cells are acidic, drinking alkaline water will not harm healthy cells while it may destroy malignant cells.
Acidosis and High Blood Pressure:
Dr. Kancho Kuninaka, one of the pioneers of alkaline water treatment in Japan, states that virtually without exception, patients with high blood pressure have an acidosis condition. He has many successful clinical cases where the acid-free high pH alkaline water lowered blood pressure over several months.
Since the alkaline or higher pH blood contains excess oxygen, the heart doesn’t have to work as hard. Another factor may be that the viscosity of the higher alkaline pH blood is low so that the heart does not need to pump as hard.

Sugar grabs oxygen with the highest priority. Most commercial foods are full of sugar. Soft drinks are not soft. They are hard killers. They’re highly acid with an average pH of 2.5. That much acid will dissolve anything. Younger people are becoming highly acidic and are being hit by so-called adult diseases. There are no warnings on the containers. Where is the FDA?
Higher alkalization means more oxygen and more oxygen signifies higher immunity. Is this simple? This makes inoculations nonsense!
Alkaline water will dissolve acid waste much quicker because of the higher pH.
Diabetes: Dr. Keijiro Kuwabara of Japan has been clinically treating diabetes quite successfully using alkaline water with only one month’s use of alkaline water. The sugar count (on a 49-year-old insurance company employee) came down to virtually an undetectable level from 300 mg per day one month previously.
So aging, disease and acid waste accumulation are the same thing. When we are born we have the highest alkaline mineral concentration and also the highest body pH. From then on the normal process of life is progressive acidification. At death we are 100 percent acid.
Therefore, reverse aging is the process of discharging old accumulated waste.
Summary: If alkaline water is essential to restoration and maintenance of health, what about the seemingly contradictory meaning of stomach acid with a pH of +/- 3 (very acid)? Hydrochloric acid is the only normal acid in the human body and it is specific to the stomach alone as separate from the rest of the body.
Proper hydrochloric acid in the stomach is as necessary as alkalizing the rest of the body. Perfect health requires both and in proper balance.
Normal hydrochloric acid in the stomach is necessary for complete healthy digestion. The deficiency of this acid leads to general toxemia all over the body and degenerative forms of disease usually appear. Here again, stomach acid goes down with age, not up as the anti-acid industry would have us to believe.
Lack of hydrochloric acid (HCl) underlies all nutritional deficiencies.
Therefore, correct stomach HCl contributes to correct alkalinity in the rest of the body and when the two are in harmony, we have perfect health

Some claim local water may have healing power

Glenda Bolton says water is the only thing that broke her nicotine habit.

"At first I was drinking two 16 ounce glasses a day, I'm up to probably five gallons a week now," she says.

She was down to a pack and a half of cigarettes a day when she quit cold turkey on the first of this year.

"I haven't had any cravings really haven't wanted one."

Glenda is an employee at Mountain Lake Ranch in Sevierville. The ranch sits on a big source of water.

"We found the source puts out between 600 and 1,000 gallons a minute," ranch owner Tom Munson says.

Munson and his wife moved to the ranch 23 years ago, from Florida. The water is a natural spring used by Native Americans centuries ago.

"To have that much water is amazing," Munson says. "We thought let's be good stewards of what God's given us, and we'll use it to be a blessing to people."

So they built a plant, and started bottling the water, calling it Historic Springs Water.

"The water has a lot of extra minerals in there which really gives it flavor," Munson says.

The Munson's knew it was good water, because their kids grew up drinking it. But, it's nothing like the miracle water Munson claims healed him of allergies, kidney stones, and gout. He says he tried pills and allergy shots, but nothing seemed to help.

"Spring time it was killing me, I couldn't breathe," he says. "Someone said to me, 'have you ever checked your p-h, I bet you are very acidic.'" "So I did and found out I was down in the six range which I found out is not good."

So he started drinking alkaline water.

"I can just say, I don't have those pains anymore so I have a feeling what's happened it has cleaned out my body," Munson says. "I can't prove anything, but I can tell you one thing, something changed in my body."

Munson drinks the alkaline water just like regular water. Since he believes it healed him, he's now bottling it at his plant.

"The water actually comes in from the spring, it goes through some pre-filtration," Munson's son Tim says.

The water goes through ionization, and then the alkaline process, which the Munson's say doesn't add or take away from the water.

"It doesn't actually put anything into the water at all," Tim says. "There's no chemicals, no buffering, there's nothing changed in the water."

The only thing that changes is the Ph, which is much higher than regular drinking water.

"By drinking higher Ph which ours is between 9.2 and 9.5, it kind of counters that ph in your body and raises the alkaline level in your body," Tim says. "It neutralizes the acid a lot better."

Glenda, who was a smoker for 40 years, says the alkaline water cleaned out her system.

"You can smell it coming out of your pores in your skin, you can actually smell the nicotine coming out," she says.

Munson, who is also a minister, sees his alkaline water bottling plant as a way to help others.

"Wednesdays and Thursdays we have a lot of folks with all kinds of physical ailments and you have a prayer list that's pretty long," he says.

Munson believes getting back to the basics of drinking more water, just might be a simple solution.

"We're searching for it and we believe this is one of those things among other things that we think can be helpful," he says.

While he believes alkaline water may be the answer, some local doctors say the water is gimmick. Others say anything you can do to keep your body well alkalined is beneficial.
